I just realized that the book I’m most excited about reading in 2008 … won’t be available until 2009! August 2009!

Frank Portman’s King Dork is one of my favorite-ever books, so I’m hoping that this means that Andromeda Klein will be quality – and worth the wait…

I love lists! There is something so hopeful about a fresh list, untrammeled by experience and second thoughts.

Teen books I’d like to read in January08:

  • Laika by Nick Abadzis
  • Rat Life by Tedd Arnold
  • Your Own, Sylvia by Stephanie Hemphill
  • Swift Pure Cry by Siobhan Dowd
  • My Life as a Rhombus by Varian Johnson

The first four books on this list are actually the reason for my New Years Resolution – They’re all due to be read for the Mock Printz discussion on January 3!  Eek!

So resolved… December 27, 2007

I like teen books a lot. It’s one of the things that makes being a teen services librarian so enjoyable. But every year, I find myself scrambling to catch up with the year’s new, notable books – the ones on the Printz, BBYA and National Book Awards lists.

So in the spirit of New Year’s Resolutions everywhere, I am starting Teen Bookity as a little virtual notepad – here I will post books that I plan to read and reviews of those I have read. I hope to concentrate on new books so that I can sound cool at YA librarian meetings, but I’m sure that I will be playing catch up, especially in January when awards are announced…
